ANTI RAGGING CELL

Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited within the premises of college. The College has constituted Anti-Ragging Committee headed by the Head of the Institution, and is a diverse mix of faculty, students and non-teaching staff` to avoid any form of conflict that could take an ugly form of ragging. Anti-Ragging Committee is the Supervisory and Advisory Committee for Preserving a Culture of a Ragging-Free Environment on the college Campus. Anti-Ragging Committee is involved in designing strategies and action plans for curbing the Menace of Ragging in the college by adopting an array of activities.

Objectives:


The main objectives of this committee are as follows:

  • To prohibit any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness of a fresher or any other student.
  • To keep a constant cycle and vigilance over ragging so as to prevent its occurrence.
  • To address any ragging issues immediately and taken action as advised by the committee.
  • To bring awareness among the students about the ill effects of ragging, its impact on human life, and the consequences of involvement in the act of ragging.
  • To receive the complaints and resolve them through the committee.
  • To generate an atmosphere of discipline by sending a clear message that no act of ragging shall be tolerated and any act of ragging shall not go unnoticed and unpunished.

Focus:


The primary focus of the Anti-Ragging Cell is to eliminate any form of ragging within the college premises. It is committed to creating an atmosphere where students can pursue their studies without fear of harassment, intimidation, or any physical or psychological harm caused by ragging.
Measures Taken Up:
The Anti-Ragging Cell takes several proactive and reactive measures to combat ragging. These measures include:
Awareness Campaigns: Organizing awareness programs and workshops to educate students about the consequences of ragging and the importance of maintaining a friendly and respectful campus.
Grievance Redressal: Providing a platform for students to report incidents of ragging anonymously, ensuring the confidentiality and safety of the complainants.
Regular Monitoring: Conducting regular checks and vigilance within the college premises to identify and prevent potential ragging incidents.
Counselling: Providing counselling and support to both victims and those who engage in ragging to address the underlying issues.

Activities:


The Anti-Ragging Cell engages in various activities to fulfill its objectives, including:

  • Organizing orientation programs to educate incoming students about the consequences of ragging.
  • Conducting surprise checks and inspections of hostels and campus areas.
  • Responding promptly to any complaints or reports of ragging.
  • Providing counselling and support to victims and perpetrators.
  • Collaborating with college authorities, faculty, and student representatives to maintain a ragging-free environment.

Punishments


According to the UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt established by the Anti-Ragging Squad, those found guilty may be awarded one or more of the following punishments, namely;

  • Warning , writing apology letter
  • Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
  • Withholding/ withdrawing scholarship and other benefits.
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/ examination or other evaluation process.
  • Withholding results.
  • Cancellation of admission.

In the case of any ragging incident, the students should immediately call or send an email and bring it to the notice of the concerned authorities for necessary help, guidance, and actions.
